The Council for Canadian Urbanism recognizes that climate change is tied intimately to the design of urban environments. CanU advocates for cities that are not only inherently livable but deeply resilient.

For these reasons CanU wholeheartedly endorses the call by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RIAC) and urbanists for all nations and leaders world-wide to abide by the 2015 Paris Accords and to embrace the 2050 Imperative, adopted by the International Union of Architects at its World Congress in Durban, South Africa. We encourage all to join in these efforts and help share this commitment.

RAIC’s full response to the United States withdrawal from the global climate agreement can be found here.
